One person mentioned that they didn’t get Vit. D production, even out in the sun. I recall reading that sunglasses interfere with Vit. D production. The body thinks it is still dark. I believe you can google this research (under: sunscreen & sunglasses).
If you were very deficient to start with, it could take that long to replenish it. You could simply be a person who does not generate vitamin D in your skin efficiently–age & genetics affect this. The drops you’re taking might not be getting absorbed if your digestion isn’t working well. There are a lot of reasons you could still be low. Talk to your doc about increasing the dose.
I’ve been taking 2000 – 4000 IU drops everyday for about 6 months, since I found via the D,25 OH test that I was somewhat deficient, only 39.3 ng/ml. I just today got the results of my latest blood work and my D level is still too low, only 43.9 ng/ml. I also have gotten outside to garden and bike ride a lot all summer. So why am I still be deficient? And please don’t tell me I’m within the normal range because what is considered within the normal range is way too low for optimum health.
You can take 10,000iu a day without toxicity. The current level of 2,000 is way too low because there isn’t enough literature on toxicity. The only toxic effects that have a occured are from 40,000iu a day for a year. Your body also makes 10,000iu from 30min full-doy sun exposure. There’s a nice article on maximum dosage on vitamin d council website.

The more fat you have, the less efficiently you will absorb Vitamin D.
